Unfortunately, sometimes an emergency will result in the inability to check or send any emails. Remember, an equipment malfunction is NO reason for a free day.
Please be patient with emergency problems and respond appropriately. There is no reason to panic. Simply address the problem and move onto an emergency activity for the remaining class. We will work together to handle emergencies flawlessly.
Emergency lesson plans will be utilized when there is equipment problems or if I am sick. Sometimes I will be able to inform you beforehand that I will be out of class during the day. However, other true emergencies will require you to follow the list of activities (in order) to complete the class period. ALL emergency activities will be graded and need to be turned in at the end of the period. It is imperative students are still working when I am absent.
- Vocabulary Story: Using recent vocabulary terms, students need to write a story that incorporates as many terms as possible. Students will read their stories to the class and turn in at the end of the class period.
- Partner Review: In groups of 2 or 3 students will walk through their notebook taking turns asking each other questions about course content.
- BINGO: Students will create a table with 4 rows and 5 columns - mark one space as a free space. Then, students will write in various vocabulary terms. The facilitator will use the textbook glossary to read definitions. If a definition matches a student term, students will cross off that space on their bingo card. The first student to get a completed row will be the next bingo caller!
- Current Event Article Summary: Students will research a current event that is relevant to a course topic. Students will then write a paragraph summarizing the event and a second paragraph explaining how this article is relevant to something that we have discussed in class.
